Default ACC sensor

Hi all

has anyone fitted a bull bar and looked at moving the ACC sensor from a very exposed bottom location to the top of the bumper bar section of a bull bar?

Default ACC sensor

It would have to be recalibrated at a dealership for it to work correctly.

I have had some experience with these and the 300 ACC as well.

timbotrog

thanks for your reply

I was thinking of having the local dealership install the bar as they know the car better than anyone else local. The place that Jeep have located the sensor would have to be the worst place for such a sensitive piece of equipment. My main interest was whether the sensor would be better placed on top of the bumper bar part of a bull bar to protect it better and allow me to have more ground clearance.

it looks like the ARB bar relocates the ACC sensor.

It’s some sort of photographic radar sensor that measures distance between objects in front of the vehicle and applies 25% of your breaking to avoid collisions. As I understand it.

ACC is Active Cruise Control , it has 3 distance settings so when you come up behind a vehical it will slow & hold that spacing , if you change lanes or the offending vehical turns off it will speed back up to the set speed they are sensitve & take about 20 minutes to calibrate as it can only be done with the vehical being driven on the highway with a number of parameters that must be met for the system to work
