As to which tyre to get, that may now depend on availability and what price you want to pay rather than what tyre you really want.
thanks, I've asked for a few quotes from the bigger places and looked on tyresales etc. now.

I believe it was an older post from you that I took a lot of reference from when searching!! appreciated.

knowing the 265/75 R17 will be a decent fit has opened up a lot of options for me.

Currently looking at:
- Dunlop Grandtrek AT3G ($325)
- Maxxis AT 980 ($280)
- BFG AT K02 ($369)
- Bridgestone M/T D674 ($349)

Monday will be a busy day of phoning around.

cheers

Take the Maxxis off your list, they are not good on wet roads.

I bought my 265/70/17 Comforser CF3000 muddies from Huntsman Products on line. $190 a tyre and from memory it was around $80 freight the 4 from Melbourne to Newcastle. Took 3 days to arrive.

My local tyre mob fitted them for $20 a rim and after their initial moan about Chinese tyres (they sell Chinese as well LOL) admitted they balanced really easy for a muddy.

For a cheap tyre I've been really impressed with them. They are sure footed on the road in both wet and dry and great in the scrub.

Totally agree with Snort. Forget Maxxis, they are like driving on ice in the wet.

follow up for those interested.. went with BFG M/T instead of the A/T.. do a fair bit of off roading these days and it's not my daily car either.

265/70 R17 .. they were just put on at Jax at Artarmon, service was good.

Dont leave the Toyo Open country II off the list. Nitto owned by Toyo too, pricing should be a little better, have your size. All the big Tyre chains do em.
