a few years ago when I was in Brisbane I got a new exhaust system on the 96... all new from the headers back it was only about $400 that included a new cat as well

i have the same set up with the flexi tube as well.

Mate they can crack on the top part just above the flange.

the best way i found was get yr hands up there when the engine is cold, get someone else to start it, you have about 5 seconds to feel for exhaust gas shooting out of any cracks before it all gets a little hot up there

other than that i think its all been covered in the previous posts.

If ever fitting a new cat or muffler etc that has the pipe clamp set up, consider welding in bolt up flanges. It can save you heaps of greif in the future sometimes.
I can separate my exhaust system into separate parts with ease. Making running gear servicing much easier.

as a side point, i to have the wildcat extractors, isn't it fun when its time for an oil change.

When i first got my Wildcat headers, there was a small clearance issue. When i was getting the flexi joint fitted, i asked the exhaust shop to heat and bend the pipes down and away from the bell housing a whisker.

All good now, and there is clearance to remove the sump bolt, but oil does go flying all over the pipes as they are directly below the sump plug.

the twin pipe forks makes a nice little roasting pan for the oil that drips off the sump plug on mine.

When I dropped it down to do the auto, you could see burnt carbon

luckily its only a small drip, so i dont notice a smell, and with the trans out, I could tell for sure my rocker gasket is leaking down the back, so once I install the gasket I have on hand, hopefully that will be cut to near zero
