Default Heep goes OZmogler (Soon)

After much delay Project mogs begins very soon.
Right now I'm just getting my head arouns a few more issues.

Background
97 TJ with RE long arms & AiRock - now trying to fit mog diffs.

TJ
Most importantly I want the sucker as low as possible. and I'm mindful of the new proposed lift height limits.
So thought I'd check he thoughts/questions here for people to follow &/or help....suggestions welome at ANY stage.

I'll be looking for the overal height of STOCK softtop & hardtop TJ's.
Planning to keep the airbags - but since they need to be run at a minimum of about 4" - I'm thinking of rasing the chassis mounts to give less effective lift - not sure how much yet but thinking 3-4" to bring it close to stock equivilent.

At this stage i'm not 100% on the wheelbase changes & probably won't be until I have the diffs under the rig. Becuase of time & financial constraints at this stage I will not be stretching the chassis nor body - but might be a longer term project

The diffs
STill looking for good cheap parts supplier.
Will be compiling a list of required parts over the next few days.

Rims & Tyres.
Think I have a source of rims & tyres - will post soon.

Will try and keep the pics coming too....

OK just found the Standard heights. Height (mm) 1782 (Soft top)/1748 (Hard top).
My TJ is rego'ed as a soft top - so in theory based on a roof height measurement, I have an extra 34mm to play with

If your stretching it why dont you comp cut the rear and have the rear diff/tyre right at the back for a killer departure angle. Will give you more wheelbase too.

This is probably the most un technical post there could be.

If you're worried about height I assume you plan to keep this legal?

How is that possible? Are you providing sexual favours to your engineer?

cool project. do you have your axles yet?

your wheelbase will end up quite long, bearing in mind the pinions are about 480mm long from the axle centre to the conversion flange.

you will most definitely want to lift the spring mounts up on the chassis, make sure you tie all your cagework into the chassis as well, otherwise all that unsprung weight will fatigue the framerails real quick.

i made my own wheels, was the only way to get the track reasonably narrow without using the stock mog 20"s.

are you narrowing the axles or leaving them? disc brakes?

make sure u type plenty of info and take heaps of pics of the pinion converson. Have u seen the pics of the black one with fox shocks, he has his rear diff in the stock position and just moved the front, looks very tidy and keeps the TJ look, as aposed to the cut up custom look.
