By only placing a dampener in the middle, a strap which has broken free can reach the other vehicle before the dampener has achieved much at all.

Hey Guys,

Using a damper is highly recommended! But best/safest results are achieved through use of a snatch strap that is rated lower than your recovery points. That way if something breaks, its the strap and not some hard metal parts.
