Default Bursted radiator and steering lines

Well, it looks like these CRD models are nasty bitches. My wife drove to town and on the way she called me the car sounded funny and then a lot of water and smoke came out of the front.

When I got there I saw a cracked radiator and a popped steering line. I guess the thermostat for the cooling had gone bad causing the car to overheat. And of course it had to happen when she was driving the car. Made her hating the Jeep even more.

I assume the Radiator from the petrol cars won't fit here, at least I could see that there are different.

So I wonder where I can get a decent radiator for the car without spending an arm and a leg.

As soon as I get back to the car I will read the engine codes and then posting them below.

Are you sure you don't have excessive fan vibration, or some sort of high load from the fan assembly? It almost looks like the fan has ripped itself off more than a radiator failure.

Arrgh what a mess. I’d have thought the radiator cap would have relieved the pressure before the radiator let go.

I say ask your misses if she heard the fan going nuts before she saw the steam.

Well, she told me that the engine was sounding a bit strange right before it happened. And again the Turbo did not work (she was not able to drive faster than 60Km or so). So it could be that the fan ripped itself off. The top of the radiator is just plastic and I was also surprised. Also that the steering hose popped off does not look right. It has nothing to do with the cooling system.
Can I actually just buy the top plastic part from somewhere (not sure if this is simply fixable or better to get a new radiator).

I just checked the Engine codes and besides the P0340 I have now also P0700, complaining about Transmission Control. As far as I can see the transmission seem to be ok. I was able to move the car after it had cooled down, so not sure where this is coming from.

Car just got towed back home (thanks RACQ) and I will have a closer look tomorrow. It just rains cats and dogs here to day and I am done with this for today. Tomorrow is another day.

if the fan ripped the hole it at least means that the car did not overheat, which was my biggest concern tbh. A fan and a radiator can be replaced but an overheated engine is a different level.
