Default Internet browser won't load, any ideas anyone?

Does anyone here have idea as to maybe why all of a sudden my pc won't connect to the internet, or load any websites?

I've done a system restore (Windows XP) back to when i knew it was working, but it still doesn't work...

My pc is hooked up to a wireless network with my wireless modem/router. Everything else on the network work fine, as in they all communicate with each other fine (and my xBox an ps3 both access the internet fine - which is what I'm using now...). Its just the pc which won't go on the net. I've had a look through my 'internet options' and everything seems to be ok, but then again i don't know what to look for.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

how many computers do you have on your wireless network? I assume you have the computer your using now + the xbox + your PC? your DHCP address range on your router might not be large enough to issue three IP's, you might need to broaden the scope.

First thing, Can you check if you have an IP address on your PC by going to start > run > type "cmd" and press enter > type "ipconfig" press enter.

Hey lovemewrangler,

I only have 1 pc on the wireless network. The other things on the network are my xBox and Sony PS3 (which is what i'm using to browse AJOR...) .

I did what you asked and it came up with :

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network configuration

Connection-specific DNS Suffix :
IP address...................: 10.1.1.4
Subnet Mask...............: 255.0.0.0
Default Gateway...........: 10.1.1.1

This doesn't make any sense to me, i guess you can make something of it though...

FYI i have had the same setup for about 9 months without changing a thing, i've had no issues, sort of makes me wonder if i have a virus...

Thanks for your input.

The error you're getting back looks to be because the PC can't 'resolve' a host name to an IP Address.

try start > run > type "cmd" and press enter > type "ipconfig /all" press enter

This should highlight the DNS servers that are in use and will provide more information.

Also, try start > run > type "cmd" press enter > type "ping 10.1.1.1"

This is the IP Address of your router. If you can get a response from that then it's most likely a DNS issue. Wouldn't hurt to reset your ADSL/Cable Modem and Wireless Access Point as sometimes these are the devices that would be handing out your DNS and local IP settings.
