If I am towing trailer with a weight over 3,000kg usually use 2014 Hino dual cab with 4,495 GVM as tow vehicle, especially for long trips or steep climbs or descents.Have used Jeep as tug with trailer loaded with weight distribution hitch and not had a issue.

Payload is about 750kg, minus the 350kg towball weight, leaving you with about 400kg in the car. Depends on what you need to put in the car while you are towing.

Most 4wds have this issue, even the landcuiser only has 610kg payload, and after you take the towball weight off you are cutting it close.
I don't understand why they took the towball weight off the the GCM. If the vehicle GVM is 2949 and you can tow 3500, the GCM should be 6449 as it was. The 350kg ball weight is just part of it, so understandably comes off the vehicle's payload, but shouldn't reduce the total. Can anyone explain the logic of Jeep's change to the GCM?
I guess the bottom line is you must include the towball weight in your GVM, so be careful not to overload your Jeep. In the case of a 3500kg caravan, this would be it's maximum loaded weight, so if it had a towball weght of 350 kg, this would come off the van and go into the car's GVM of 2949 kg.So 2949 plus 3150 would be within the 6049 limit, but would only leave you 250-300 kgs for fuel and passenger. My JGC has the Adventure pack, so would be roughly the same weight as the Trailhawk, 2340 tare. My van is about 3300 with a ball weight of 200, so I figure 6099 less 3100 leaves 2999 which gives me a margin of 50kg as the car's allowable maximum weight is 2949. Therefore if 200 of that is allowed for the ball weight of the van, I have about 400 kg for fuel and passengers - just enough!
