Default Scan gauge 2

Just install a scan gauge 2 in my07 crd and was wondering how accurate the readings are for engine temp, trans fluid temp. I am not towing anything but do travel on some hilly country and dirt roads at slow speeds 50kmh. Engine temp varies from 88 to 103 degrees according to scan gauge 2 and trans temp 75 to 80 degrees. Cheers

HI Majiklister

I have the Blue driver thing thats plugs into the computer and then be read via an app. Mine engine temp very rarely sees high 90's and only over 100 if 4wding, ive been towing a camper 100kph when it's been 47c outside with A/C on and by memory it got to 94 or 95. I wouldnt stress to much but its something to keep an eye on and maybe look into as i fancy 103's a little high considering your not towing and working it hard.

Check that your engine fan is turning slowly at Idle if not you may have troubles with the hydraulic switch. thee is a post on here somewhere to check to see if things are working correctly, could be radiator needing a good flush.

As for Trans temps i cant say for my Jeep as my reader dose not show trans temp, but with experience with other cars they seem to be right.

OH and cheers, i might look into a scan gauge 2 now so i can keep an eye on trans temp too, and makes it easier knowing the temp when your servicing the trans.
Where did you purchase yours from, and price if you dont mind me asking ?

Cheers

Thanks for the info WH3.0 I have noticed since getting a bull bar installed that the temp gauge on WH did rise from about 2 notches before half to now on half or maybe a coincidence that we are getting warmer weather so was thinking may be scan gauge2 might not be reading accurately. I do have a blue driver I should connect and check engine temp with that to get a comparison. Have checked engine fan it does appear to be spinning when idle.

I purchased mine from https://www.fueleconomysolutions.com...tal-gauges-eng

Do you know if you can get an adapter and run to obdii scanners would like to compare scan gauge2 and blue driver together.

Cheers

I have an Arb bull bar on the front of my Wh and get the exact same temps as you, reading from a scan gauge. At 105deg the fan will cut in to a faster speed, on the temp gauge is just over 1/2 way. The temp drops back down very quickly. I would worry if it goes above 105deg. On a hot day aircon running 102deg and towing. 105deg towing up a hill.
My fan sometime dosnt spin slowly at idle. I do think my fan is not 100% good but will do something about it when the car runs abit warmer.

I filled an alloy radiator that knocked my temps back to under the half way point on the gauge.

Have you changed the power steering fluid? This sometimes fixes the no spin at idle.

so sounds like a bull bar increase's temp slightly. they must restrict the air flow a little in places.

Mine is always under half or on if its working but i only have a nudge bar on the front.

Connected up blue driver and got same engine temp readings as scan gauge 2 so readings must be correct. I have ECB bulbar, maybe bulbar and led light bar are enough to cause restriction of air flow.
