Brisbane Jeep Factory - 1960's
Hi,
My name is Dave and I am from OzMosaics, a Mosaics company in Brisbane. We have been contacted by a guy from Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California.
He is a digital archivist for the company and is interested in a piece of art that he believes was at the Brisbane Jeep Factory circa 1963. See the attached photo that he sent.
He thinks it is a mosaic and wonders if anybody knows anything about it, could it be still intact?? If anyone can help, please post or email me directly and I will put you in touch with him.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hi,
Kaiser are not looking to "reclaim" the mural. Their archives/historical guy is just curious if it still exists and where. He is also very interested personally in community art, and so this is of personal interest as well as company.

Brisbane and architecture aren't happy bedfellows....I would be shocked if the cultural vaccum that is Brisbane would have retained this....

I would have to tend to agree with this. My memories of the Brisbane factory date back to when I was a youngster, a client of my fathers had a business across the street. He used to do quite a bit of work for Jeep.
When the factory was due to shut down, he was offered a Jeep Cherokee at a heavily discounted price, this FSJ consisted of parts that were left lying around, was a bitsa.
