any real 4wd has live axles. independant suspension won't give the same performance, and whatever ground cleaance they have is reduced by about 50mm everytime they hit a bump, as the suspension dips. nor is it as strong. that is the big attraction of the jk wrangler. it is one of the few fwd's left with a live axle system and decent ground clearance.

I would say yes... but have you seen some of those desert raceing rigs in the US like (jessie james)etc wow the work great.
