Finally got to take my limited into the harder stuff instead of just limestone tracks and sand to the surf. Hit the powerlines in Sawyers Valley WA so some ruts and rocks. The Jeep performed amazingly well for what I expected. Not sure what they call it but the hill ascent/descent control works really well. Just picking that gear and no input other than steering. Was very impressive.
One slight downside, but still really a first world problem, is the amount of buttons I was having to push. Up/down, low range, hill ascent/decent blah blah. I have come from a 4" flexi coiled patrol where it was push that stubby stick and just shoot. Don't worry about what line. The harder the better. The jeep is a bit different. Other than being the most expensive car we have ever owned by far, first new car and the wife's daily driver, I had to show some sympathy reluctantly and chicken track as few spots. Really made me realise also how wide these cars are. Got a couple of good vids of lifting some wheels through the ruts but not sure how to post as they are a bit big.
I found it interesting while crawling hearing the electronic rear locker engaging and disengaging. Was quite noticeable in feel and noise when having to turn going down hill with the hill descent on.
Overall I am very happy how the electrics work so well. No carnage other than some rash on the belly plates as expected so happy (so is the wife, but she didn't like the vids and photos).
I am also running general grabber AT2's and think they performed really well. They do seem to have maybe a softer side wall than expected as I had them at 20psi and they seemed at times very low with lots of bagging of the side walls but never once was I really scrabbling for traction in the dusty conditions.

All the gear and the right idea heading home from Straddie after the Easter break. Shame the beach wasn't more of a challenge, would've loved to pull the cruiser out

On the road again - Away for a couple of weeks down to Forster NSW
The Jeep once again performed flawlessly - such a great tow vehicle and nice car!
Cheers,
Sallly

Grand cherokee (WK) pics share them
Lovely photos Markus. I've been thinking of getting a Frontrunner roof rack for my Jeep. How happy are you with this setup so far? Have you carried any decent weight on it yet? Any firsthand information on this will be appreciated!

Hi, happy with the Frontrunner so far, just had the 2 roof rails and a basket before and the FF rack is a definite improvement. Install is straight forward and easy enough though if you want to take it on and off (when not required), it isn't the quickest setup to remove. With the 6 securing bolts each side you don't get the flex that you have with just the bars that's for sure. Haven't loaded it up that much yet though the last trip I would have had more than the 68 kilos up top, maybe around 80 - 90 and if you load it up evenly should not be a problem. Good thing with FF is all the bits you can buy to attach all the stuff and seems well made, brackets are stainless and the rack is alloy so should last.
Cheers
