Jeep has laid down a challenge for rival brands to match the bang-for-buck factor of its fastest, most powerful SUV ever.
The American off-road brand has confirmed full Australian details for its high-performance Grand Cherokee Trackhawk ahead of its official arrival in local showrooms in February 2018, confirming it will cost from $134,900 (plus on-road costs).
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk not only sets new standards in the Australian SUV market, but the overall performance car market, FCA Australia President Steve Zanlunghi said.
In terms of value for money in the performance segment, it will be difficult to find anything else that comes close.
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will become the third most-powerful vehicle to be sold in Australia, with its 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 producing 522kW and 868Nm of torque only bettered by the Ferrari 812 Superfast and Lamborghini Aventador S.
It packs enough punch to launch the monstrous SUV from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 289km/h.
Its performance has been matched by equally speedy customers, with Jeep confirming the initial allocation of 62 vehicles for Australia have already sold out.
More than just the engine, the Trackhawk is equipped with Brembo brakes, specially-tuned active suspension, 20-inch forged alloy wheels and a long list of standard features, from leather sports seats, a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system with an 825W amplifier and an 8.4-inch colour touchscreen with sat nav, digital radio and smartphone mirroring.
It also comes fitted with a comprehensive suite of safety functions, such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision and lane departure warnings, blind spot monitor, semi-automated parking and seven airbags.
