Good idea, i'm sick of having to open my bonnet to connect the compressor to the battery or leave the door open to connect in my solar to charge the battery/keep fridge going.
On the inside of the winch well. I bought a weatherproof Anderson plug from ebay and a winch isolation switch and cable from 4wd Supercentre to isolate it when its not being used for long periods.

On a side note....

What bolt size did u use to mount that winch horizontal like that? Square nuts in the winch feet too? Have u used the winch in anger yet, and if so how did the bolts hold up no bending or anything suss. Always curious as to how mounting a winch like that would work as most of the winches ive had mount to the bar feet forward not feet down.

Cheers.
Brad.

I can't remember what size bolts they are maybe M12? They are a high tensile hex head.

Under the winch there is a braced steel plate for added strength so there is no bending. I've used it a few times for myself and other vehicles without any problems.

I'd be more worried about the cable snapping than pulling the winch out.

Sweet mate cheers for that. Didnt know u could fit hex nuts into the winch feet like that. Always thought they had to be square nuts. Off to bunnings to get some thicker tensile bolts i reckon ahaha.

Just make sure there is enough room otherwise you might be wasting your money. I'm not sure that all winches are standardised.

Not trying to hijack the thread but would the standard 12v plug in the rear draw power from the aux battery in a Genesis Duel battery setup for the jk or would it cut off when the system detects low voltage in the starter battery switching to the aux only?

I have just been looking around for different power setups.

Cheers

We put a second battery under the back seat on the passenger side. It means we can't fold that seat down, but that has never bothered us. It's been under there since new and the Jeep's a 2009 vintage.

The battery is a gel cel, so we don't have leaky acid problems.

12v plug in the back cargo area that links the batteries if we need to. it'll run a 40l engel all night plus about half a day before draining, but we've only flattened it once to check the capacity. It generally just does a cooler while the fridge sits in a camper trailer running off that battery (and the anderson plug at the back of the car).

We looked at putting one under the bonnet, but IIRC there wasn't enough room. I have seen a modification for that silly little empty space in the cargo area to be used as a second battery box, I think it may have come from this forum in fact. Might have been Davidd's or one of the long time members.
