General question about trails

I took a pretty round about way up to dubbo over the weekend, trying to stick to the dirt roads and what not, on the way there seemed to be plenty of other tracks leading off into the bush and logging plantations that looked interesting.

My question is, if there are no signs saying keep out, private road or generaly looking like someones driveway (IE. letterbox) should it be ok to explore?

I know usually at worst someone will just tell you to get out, but id like to enjoy meself and avoid such things.

If you know where you are planning to travel, then the best idea is to do a bit of research before the trip and determine if you are likely to be in a state forest, national park, or potentially private land. If someone wants to keep 4WDs out of their property, you will probably come across a gate or sign telling you not to proceed - if you don't see this, and have done your prior research, then you have taken due care and can enjoy your exploration.
