Have u removed all that sound deading rubber shit from the floor? what is the cage made of? what about removing the dash and everthing behind it all together, just install a tacho, temp and oil pressure guages on a folded peice of ali above the steering colum, should loose u quite a few kgs. or just remove the dash strip everthing but the ECM and put the dash back in for looks.

Also the stone guards in the wheel arches.

Cage is a combo of DOM (for the main hoops) and seamed pipe here and there I think... the main hoops are heavier than the rest of the tube.

I have no carpet, no rubber on the floor... actually cut the rear floor out to move the fuel tank up in there... and plastic seats instead of the heavier stockers.

Stone guards?? Wheel arches?? What are they?? Both gone with the coil over front conversion and fiberglass high hood.

Dash... yes, I have this on my list. Pete K from Gondwana (now one of our sponsors) has been talking me through stripping some weight out of the dash... sometime in the coming months I will give it a shot.

Pete also helped out by supplying a wicked alloy radiator with a thermo fan! This thing is an awesome looking bit of kit (as always with Pete's stuff), so I'll be looking to install it after WE Rock round 2.

Keep the suggestions coming!

S.

Jus trying to understand I guess the fasination with stripping weight? I do understand that really heavy does suk but really, not meaning to sound condesending but at what point to you go "jus drive it". You have a great rig there shane! And at the end of the day you are really getting yourself close to it no longer being a full bodied vehicle.

Wheel it hard bro! Take no prisioners, these light moon buggies are a fashion thing, you can never acheive everything with a rig. Look at my build, yes i care about weight, but I also care about my safety!

Maybe look at alloy belly pan, rip out current skidder and do 10mm alloy checker plate. keep the integrity there but lighten with things like this. the brace your running between the two front hoops, drop the guage of steel there, in the end its just acting as a gusset.

drop some chassis off the rear and tube it there also. run smaller fuel cell.

these suggestions are assuming you still wanna pursue the weight thing. My bet, jus get into it mate, pick your lines and drive hard! Dont follow everyone elses lines just cause they drove it! dont always look at the hard lines just because you THINK you can drive it, pick the lines that you KNOW you can drive, at the end of the day your going for points not for show.

anyways off my soap box.

Well said JB, surely the couple of kilos your going to save is not going to make that much of a difference in the long run...

depends if you want to take the vehicle back to full bodied competition like TT again

If its so important to have a light weight rock crawler then IMO build a tube buggy to achieve your goals

How much would the alloy radiator and thermo fan be worth to a normal non-sponsored individual? Do you know?
