That still requires the use of a fuse and a relay etc, I use the feed that supplys the fan, in your case the C25 to supply the coil of the relays.
I used some 2 pin high current Molex plugs in such a way that allows the original fan to be plugged back into the its original feed if something were to go wrong with my relay set up....

Thanks for spending your time on this JJ, makes total sense. I knew it would
likely be simplified, just didn't know where to start.

Will likely commence my wiring harness this weekend, pics to follow.

Linked up the relay bases today and grouped together, marked out where to solder the wiring from the included relay base wiring.

A little confused on the specs of the eBay fan I bought as it states 280W motor but only 16A draw :-/
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/16-INCH-L...-/110797109190

According to an online conversion table for wiring gauges, 280W should require a similar gauge wire as 50A. http://www.rbeelectronics.com/wtable.htm

However the fan's include fuse was only rated to 30A so I'm guessing either the fan motor is overrated or I'm misinterpreting some information here. So basing on the advertised amp draw specs my 40A relays and fuse should be fine.

280w @ 12v is ~23A, if it was rated @ 14v then it would be 20A, why not measure it if you have the right sort of gear to be able to do so....
