If you've got the money get a decent compact amp and new speakers capable of taking a much higher current and tune them on the amp.

You can use the factory speaker frame as an adapter to mount a good speaker 6" I think fits but check as its been a while since I did mine and silicon/rivet you new speaker to it. I've got multiple user programmable settings on my deck tho son only need to touch a few buttons to switch between modes.

Anywho, moving along, with the success of my DIY tube doors and recovery point I have moved onto my next project. Sliders. Started out going a full DIY job and made up sill brackets but picked up a cracking deal on a set of rubicon sliders for the grand total of 2 cartons of strongbow so $85. Picked up 4m of 35mm NB tube and 1m of 25mm NB today for $40 as there is nothing suitable in the rack at work. Took a few measurements, cut the ends as wanted, cut out a couple holes for mid supports and taking it all to work tonight to MIG it up and slap some paint on it to seal it up from the elements. Also grabbed a can of textured bed liner paint to finish it off from SCA for $22. So total cost of $147 and 40km travel and this is where I'm at presently.

Planning to do same thing, post the finished product.

Would you believe a maintenance workshop could run out of mig wire. Stupid hobby 5kg rolls they're buying and no spare on the shelf. Centre spaces tacked, ends just sitting there.

Looking good, are you going to strengthen the mounts now you have the added leverage with the side bars? Similar to below...

Hi MDK and others. Just a word of warning on the Rubi rails. Even though they are fairly strong and depending on the type of offroading you intend to do, it is still possible to flex them into the body if you land on them hard enough, as I found out on the weekend climbing Little Red (GHM).

Some of the paint flaked off when I was washing it.

From above, good side.

bad side

Once I press it flat and touch it up I may have to get some rock skins

Might get a look in eventually but I'm in no hurry. Mine's a critter chaser primarily not a rock climber, I'm just really missing a step to get into it and hope to avoid copping a mouthful from the minister. The point is definitely valid as the picture above shows what could happen. But with just normal steps I'd reckon the damage would of been a lot worse. The additional material on the blackjack ones tho I don't think would add a significant amount of extra protection. Really needs to go back to the chassis to properly protect the body.

The rubi rails probably aren't so much rock rails but slightly higher protection for the body than the step. I have another project to do before I look into adding anything to these.

Did this tonight over a beer. Got the sub, soundbar and tweeters done.
Front speakers will get done over the weekend.
Makes a noticable difference - cheers for the tip.

Well I got some more MIG wire and finished them off, TIG on some end covers and slapped some bed liner paint on them when I got home. Should be good to go in the morning, hopefully.
