Default Sugestion Box Section PLEASE

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...ad.php?t=97363

I never inteded for this to turn into yet another piece of crap spam thread but then again I guess thats what it really was in nature?

Anyway - my suggestion Stands...

Could we create sub-catagories in the vehicle garage sections like - Engine, Drivetrain, Electrical, Audio, Modification, Warrenty issues.... and so on

This would (IMO) result in less stickies on one page and also less duplication of the same threads being recreated over and over...

If I knew how to create a yes no poll on this I would, so mabey someone else could...

Search function is great.
Ever wonder why the JK section is the only one to have so many stickies ??.
I think your intentions are good, BUT this will turn into another JK owner demographic / Jeep propaganda marketing ploy thread.
Yip I guess you're right...

In regards to the search function--- I know about this and its advantages however newbies don't and the problem is that every two weeks on one for that matter a newbie will start a thread asking a question thats been answered and threaded a hundred times and due to the apparent culture on AJOR to try and get the highest post count, rather than pointing the newbie to an existing thread or suggesting a search, we will simply go along for the ride....

Thats what I see as the issue... and as you say my intentions are good but i can see your point so i'll leave it there.

The only downside to breaking sections into to many sub forums is people then get lost, post in wrong areas etc.

The key to posting succesfully is to always post inthe right section, and use your title more effectively.

If you have a engine problem with your jeep, start a thread saying "Wrangler Engine knocking" NOT "help me".

This is all things that will help.

Always appreciate feedback dont get me wrong, and btw I didnt appreciate what happened to your thread also.

The only issue that i can see is that there is just so much info available on here that it takes forever in a day to either pin point or find something specific specially when we all have different ways or ideas of discribing things.

We all have to start somewhere and sometimes reading alot of advise makes it hard to pick up or identify the important or specific info your after.

I recon the main advice noobies, like what i was once after, is modification advice. Not sure if there is but maybe those who know modifying Jeeps back to front can start a specific sticky stating the basic modifying dos and don't, what not to use and what to use etc. Yes it is almost covered in every mod question ever but to reduce the time spent trying to find the answer and the number of new posts started asking about, could make it worth while.

Maybe a specific issues sticky too, for people to source info on major vehicle issues or problems experienced by ajor members, I know that the TJ area has a annoying common repairs thread but something for those more irregular or one off problems that we have all experience with jeeps such as Bally12s sensor issues or noises etc.

These two areas seem to be the major thread questions that come through. If information was easily reached through just one thread for each of the more heavely discussed topics then the number of "new question" threads may be decreased.

Just my idea to help out cause i too have started new threads that i am almost 100% certain have been discussed previously.

Is this really a problem? As long as there's people who're happy to answer... there might even be something new to say!

The alternative is to hunt down and resurrect an ancient but related thread -- maybe not so good if its already pages long.
