I bought a set of 30W 4" lights off ebay for about $27. For that price if they were no good then it was no great loss. I have to admit that I'm actually impressed with them. They are quite bright and provide a very white light much better than the OEM ones.

Like MM mentioned they have a very sharp cut off and provide really good close up illumination. The beam is quite broad on mine so it not only lights up what's in front but also spreads to the sides of the road so you can see what's there as well.

They were a direct replacement with no mods needed.

Are they plug and play into the factory wiring? Any flickering? And lastly, what year model JK do you have?

Mine were plug and play, no flicker on a 2011 model. I didn't even have to adjust mine.

I did however had to break the OEM ones to get them out because I spend a lot of time on the beach they were pretty rusted in.

Missed the last line of your post re direct replacement sorry :/

I've been without fog lights for a number of years now - rarely need them - but am getting sick of seeing the holes for them empty in the bumper haha - from memory one of the clips for my fogs is broken so it would be a matter of cutting and putting on new plugs for me (another excuse to buy more goodies lol)

Did you go to someone specific on ebay or just the cheapest one you found with them?

I just made sure they were plug and play amongst the cheap ones. I didn't want to spend too much if I wasn't going to be happy with them.

Replacements arrived today! I think they need a little more work, electrically. No flicker, but I thing DRLs are supposed to turn off when you turn on your headlights, so I need to add a relay.

Next step will be adjustment & see how they go on the road. I only really needed them, since, they have to work if they are fitted. So no problem if you take them out, or if they work, but if only 1 does, they make comments about it during the inspection... And I figured, I might as well have some that work decently for the 1 or 2 times a year they get used. (1 time is the rego inspection...)

Old thread I know, but did you take the arb bar off to fit the fog lights? I haven't been able to work out how to fit the fog lights without removing the bar.
