I've got 6yo Bighorns on now! Not sure exactly how many k's on them, since I was swapping between them, for offroad, & a 2nd set of GSAs I picked up cheap, for day to day stuff.

They are certainly irritating now, particularly with tube doors on for summer!

There's a local storethat Kelly says sells them, so I might drop in there tomorrow & get a quote. I know the local Bob Jane can do the Wildpeaks for $250ea, so I have a starting point.

They cracked and chipped and were rooted by 40,000 km.
I ended up with the Comforsers because I asked my local tyre place about buying Bighorns as they were a stockist. The look on the guys face looked like I just asked to sleep with his mother. He literally spat out that they don't deal with Maxxis anymore. So it sounded like they have had a lot of issues with them.

He tried to sell me a set of GT Radials that they put on the local Police 4wds here but didn't like the look of them.

Yeah, Bob jane won't sell them any more because thay are too hard to balance & then go out again quickly.

Aaaaannd strike the Kelly TSRs. Local place hasn't got any, (no surprise there), so they called Kelly & there are none in the country and no expected deliveries. They also mentioned the last set they sold had a build date of 2014... Looks like Kelly is being wound down.

When I took the Comforsers to the same tyre place to get them fitted. One of the guys there started bitching about Chinese tyres and how shitty they are etc.

I told him that I was paying for him to fit them, not for his opinion. When I came to pick them up, he apologised and said how surprised he was that for a muddy they were one of the easiest to balance.

My local tyre bloke was showing me all the different treads and casings etc in his warehouse and saying how a lot are made in the same factory, there were heaps that were the same as the pricier brands.
I had a set of Chinese 120 buck each muddies on my old Hilux and the things took some abuse and still looked like new!

Yep, lot's of things end up coming out of the same factory from the same moulds. Usually with slightly different componds, (cheaper), and after the design rights are sold on. Or 'just enough' changes are made to the design. Not identical, but very similar.

eg: Kelly Safari TSR

Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 rib.

Looking at them now, not as similar as I first thought, though!
