i thought about putting an xr6t motor in my xj, but that is as far as it got, about six months after selling my xj i found a guy in the states put a 2j into his xj and married his trans with the supra trans as they are the same format just diffent input shafts which means no adapters required and it went extremely well and 2j's are cheap these days a complete front clip for around $2500...and then the power possibilities are upwards of 6-700 horse power on stock motor with a few bolt on extras of course.

It looks like I'm going to be the first to do this swap. I'm sourcing the parts at the moment to get it all rolling. Once I start, I will start a build page. A local engineering shop is fitting BA/BF engines into Patrols with outstanding results. 12.4L/100km is what they a re getting in Patrols. Both Advance & Novak to an adapter to fit the AU bellhousing to the NV gearbox. A Territory engine is preferred due to the better sump clearance. The biggest PITA is swaping out the pedal assembly as the Ford is fly by wire. The hooking together of the 2 wiring harnesses & computers etc will cost between 1 & 1/2K. Probably the single biggest outlay.

Its not worth converting it to cable, just make a bracket to bolt in the electronic pedal from the falcon.

I am very close to pulling the trigger on this as well and buying all the gear. Have you put much thought into how you are gonna wire up the trans from the xj to the barra ecm.
