Made some calls and looks like I will be ok. I have to get the trailer inspected at a licensed inspection station prior to having it regoed in Tas. But because it is classified as a light vehicle I can get it passed without the compliance plate. The bloke doing the inspection just needs to call transport for an authorisation to it not having a plate and then I should be right to go in with the inspection check pass certificate and register it in Tas. Decided to cut of the tie rail and have it welded down lower. That way the number plate can go up higher and the licence plate light can sit in a spot where it will work and not get smashed or the wires ripped out.
Starting to get more organised now too. I have two proper trailer Ford rims on and have removed the homemade wheel spacers, which would have never passed. Pretty stoked the mech stripped and fitted my old tyres to the new rims for 5 bucks each.
Hopefully get the brake backing mounting plates welded on in the next few weeks and then get on Fleabay and pick up a new master cylinder and I should have working brakes again.
. Been told I need to remove my side tool box as it hangs over the guard 25mm. Hopefully that's all I need to get a successful pass. I'd really love to add a couple of leafs to the springs when I can afford it because that will mean they can handle the 950kg load that I am allowed to carry as it's approved for 1300kg GVM. At the moment the springs seem to sit a little low once it gets much over 650kg, especially when the load shifts to the rear like it does when I pull gravel and drive up hill on the corrugations on my way home.
