Default KJ Rear Upper Control Arm Replacement

Rather than have to deal with removing and installing a replacement rear upper control arm balljoint yet again at my age, I decided to just buy a whole Arm Replacement complete with new bushings and the balljoint. Of course to buy such a replacement from Jeep Australia I would need to sell a kidney, and the Crown ones sold by Morris 4x4 are marked for road use only due to Crowns terrible reputation; but IDParts sell the Mevotech (made in Canada) replacement which supposedly is an enhancement on the OE. So I bought the Mevotech Arm ($129.95 USD) and it's coming via UPS. The shipping cost more than the Arm assembly but at least it will get here before the GST changes on 1 July, so I should save money there. More to come when it arrives and I hope to have it in for my next trip to Brisbane.

I was going to order some bits from IDParts, just haven't got around to it.

Mate get cracking. GST will apply to all purchases on imports below $1000 From 1 July.

The UPS eta on my rear boomerang is 18 June, so I am good.

I just look at ID Parts again, seeing what I need, and thinking of how to batch up purchases, to make sure no one purchase goes over, yet, is still affordable for postage. Will have to send them a few messages I think.

Based on my astronomy gear imports, I believe the shipping cost affects the total as well. Unless you can get them to understate the value on the invoice attached to the box. I have no idea how this GST change is going to affect shipping times, as people are going to have to check this on the Australian end. At least UPS handles all inbound charges as part of their service, and will call you to collect payment before release for delivery. Stuff coming in via normal post could sit in Customs a long time.

the whole GST thing is the greatest crock it might make sense were jeep parts only 10% cheaper from the US fact is Australian dealers are often up to 400% dearer

Amazing UPS service, the boomerang cleared customs at Botany yesterday evening. Now it will slow down.
