Flippin' key fobs...I bought a 2nd one and had it programmed prior to the lap so I had a spare in case I lost one.
From time to time I do get the "Key Fob Not detected' message when I go to start the Jeep...with both of them. Then I usually get the irits and hit the start button several times and it generally comes good and starts.

I have on occasion had to lock and unlock the Jeep to get the thing to work...frustrating if anything.
Yeah...I have replaced the batteries in both fobs more than once over the past 12 months too...

I wonder where the sensor is in the Jeep that "sees" the Fob? maybe it gets crud on it or something...

I have a waterproof plastic lunchbox thing I use when out in the tinny. Good thing is it floats.

Ohhhh...the GLOVEBOX Book....shyte....guess I just wasnt thinking about 'practical solutions'...more the...'lets get this over n done with' train of thought...all good now.
Side note which may or may not relate to the key fob battery...may be the rain we are FINALLY getting..anywayz...the car now turns off first press of the keyless start/stop button...was 98% of the time cycling to the Accessories cycle when button was pushed to turn the car off...I would have to cycle through the run to off cycle, sometimes more than once or twice, to turn the car off...now...it goes, and stays in the stop cycle when the button is pushed to shut down....NEVER gonna claim a victory...may hex myself....with these electronic marvels...but...for the time being I can cease the Physio sessions for the RSI to the left hand pointer finger....nice result.

ps: to make that clear...the engine has always shut down first press of the button....the 'electrics' stay live(ignition cycle went to Accessories)...it completely shuts down first press....currently

The a Yes with a maybe, need to find a real locksmith, not a shopping centre one, they can recode it for you just need your Jeep and other keys and your Jeeps pin code...... he should be able to cut a new key if needed..... years ago I was looking at getting an extra key, local locksmith would charge me $75 so long as I provided the new fob.

I occasionally get the key fob not detected - usually when my iPhone is in the same pocket as the key fob or whenever a front seat passenger is downloading something on their phone in close proximity to the push start button when starting the vehicle. Move the phones away from the fey fobs or start button & the problem goes away. Gotta love electronic gadgets interfering with other electronic gadgets LOL

Ok...DYOR as they say...

From what I have read, the issue of "Key Fob not Detected" may be unique to the 2014 - 2015 JGC. The system works on an active RF signal transmitter, and does need a battery in the key-fob.

It is apparently a well known or well documented issue on some forums. There are two solutions to get it running. 1. pull a fuse, F51, in the fusebox and reseat it or 2. disconnect the battery for up to 5 minutes then reconnect. Both have the effect of resetting the keyless entry system. The F51 fuse is a light blue 15 fuse in the middle/upper right quadrant of the fuse box. pulling the F51 Fuse (ignition module fuse)

The engine START/STOP button has an induction coil around it that will allow you (in case of emergency) to use a key-fob with a dead battery to start the car. To do that use the nose end (the side opposite to the emergency key insert) of the key-fob to push the start button.

FOBs are activated on two frequencies 315Mhz and 434mHZ with the former showing some signs of jamming from other devices...
