Repaired the door limiter strap in my 96 and jerry-rigged the mount to shorten it as i did so to try and stop it cracking the hinges.

I'll probably chuck the pics of how i did it up here in the near future.

Next step getting those hinges repaired. Anyone in melb wanna weld up some door hinges? haha

Put 2 degree shims between my axle and leaf pack to reduce the vibes, it's not 100% but sooooo close. Do they make a 1 degree shim? Might have to slacken off the u-bolts and jack the pinion up slightly and tighten the bolts up, it's that close I think the little bit of give in there may be enough.

Cheers
Steve

Installed some new sway bar bushings and a new belt pulley... And almost finished flushing out the old oil out of the transmission (just by undoing trans drain plug, draining out 3 litres then filling up with 3 litres of dex3 driving a couple of days and repeating)...

Parked it in my back yard.... after completing nearly 7,000k's in the last 4 1/2 weeks from Brisbane to the tip and back.

It was an awsome trip, the XJ did well.

Nice work - got any pics and writeups coming? Would be keen to hear how the XJ went and what you needed for the trip.
