Well it wasn’t today but it’s the first time I’ve had a minute to log on here.
The XJ is running again.
The 4.7 Stroker is in but I had a few changes to make.
The motor had been built with a 258 sump as it was intended for a CJ7 and lack of clearance was enough of an issue to change it over- that and the towie who some how managed to rip off the sump bash plate and dump all the oil onto his tray when delivering it....
Made up some new battery cables 50mm sq copper, soldered lugs for the starter and engine ground, 25mm for the fuse block and body ground.
Pulled out the busted Davies Craig fan controller I’d previously installed and replaced it with some relays for the triple fan set-up I have.
Larger 4 hole injectors- these are an experiment...
Has SS extractors and a cold air intake.
I’m thinking it’s way too many mods for the stock ECU to cope with.
Full set of new engine sensors are on the way but it will be months till I’m back in the shed to play again so she’s mothballed with the solar panel hooked up to maintain the battery.

I connected my ARB Air compressor (in a case) to the XJ in order to pump up the tyres on my mountain bike which has not seen trails for a while. My mini hand pump failed, so I used the blue plastic attachment (that comes with the compressor) on the air hose to connect to a Presta valve because nothing else would work. I do not like Presta valves.

With trails still closed to 4wds from the recent megablaze, I will go exploring on two wheels. The loss of trees, foliage and undergrowth has revealed spectacular terrain well beyond the trail and other trails I never knew existed.

I love my mountain bike, my ARB portable air compressor, and ... my XJ!

Well its not what I did today ... But what I did this week
Drank Beer and looked at the XJ .. Drove LuluBelle the PT Cruiser
Fitted the Worlds most Expensive LED Interior Replacement kit ............... Cool
Fitted the ZJ Clutch Fan ... More COOL! I Hope
But the best part was the ChainSaw! There was a old half dead 4 meter tree behind the PT Now I have a 2 car driveway The PT will have to live on the concrete as there is a tiny stump left for the moment but wont worry XJ or trailer

I drove it a short distance, and an oncoming ute with a trailer flung a rock, craic'ing my after market windscreen.

The original windscreen was badly pockmarked after the car had spent many of its early years on central desert tracks. It took a 22 wheeler to complete the damage (in 2000) with a massive rock on the Newell Highway, yes, the blacktop.

By comparison, today's rock was smaller, but the speed it hit was like a bullet (this also happened on the blacktop). A small 2cm crack has now expanded to look like a 10cm crystal huntsman.

This was the excuse that I was looking for to have a panel shop rip it out, tend to some surface rust around the rubber seal/frame edges (that leaks water), and then, somehow, source an OEM windscreen. Although this current aftermarket Aussie made windscreen was very clear, there has been so much wind noise that has added to the engine bay and underbody decibels. It had a gap for some reason on the bottom section of the window frame.

Wish me luck trying to source a new original windscreen. Not sure if pre update windscreen dimensions are the same as the post 96 XJs.

I had a near miss with the JKU, 2 years ago where some cowboy towing a trailer overtook me on the blacktop at over 100km/h (over a painted median strip). A rock was thrown at me, and it hit the window hinge chipping paint out of the hinge. I could have been up for a new windscreen within a few months of ownership.
