Feast your eyes on this folks! For $2 on eBay, I have the original EF backing light working!

This is not an LED replacement. It's the real McCoy with an aftermarket driver.

From eBay. Search for EL Driver.

Get to the board as per destructions on jeepswj.com. Cut the 4 wires to the dead inverter, as close to it as you can. From the 4 pin plug, red is positive, black negative and the 2 whites go to the EL membrane. A word of caution here, EF runs at lethal voltages. Disconnect your battery before starting and insulate well. Mount up the new driver, reassemble and test.

A quirk... it only illuminates with ignition on (and lights, of course).

Note that I cleaned and lacquered the board a few weeks ago. I recommend this. You get the cleaner and lacquer from Jaycar.
