The saga of the engine not revving continues. Mechanic put the old injectors back in, the same prob, except the smoky exhaust returned. The injectors are fine and I strongly recommend them.

Thing is, what's now wrong with my engine? EGR and Turbo hose are fine. No fault showing on the diagnostics. Mechanic found some water in the fuel, but after fixing that, still the same.

Have you checked the turbo actuator module , some have been known not to show a fault code.It sounds as if the turbo is not spooling up.These are twin vane turbos. He should be able to get a boost pressure readout on his scan tool.or you can hold the actuator arm and see if it is working. So many electronics / sensors just to make an oil burner work !

Thanks, actuator and turbo have been checked. What makes a OM642 Merc diesel not rev above 2k and not show any error codes?

I find a global search comes up with nothing. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Mate, im having drama with my intercooler hoses. The one from the intercooler to the throttle body has a huge crack in it. Car is a wheezer and whistles too. No power and won't go over about 2k rpm. NO CODES.
Ive just ordered a new set from UK. Mines a 2010. The new blue silicone one fitted perfectly on the cool side to the throttle body. The new blue silicone one from the resonator to the intercooler didn't fit. But i know this will cure the problem once resolved.
I had no turbo boost. I could hear it leaking. So look at that.

Cheers,
Alex

I presume you have checked the MAF and camshaft speed sensor .Both of these can start to fail and show no codes. I also presume a full fuel system test from tank to hp pump ,to fuel rail pressure etc.! Etc
