Default Fuel Sender unit..?

Ever since owning my Jeep, the fuel gauge has never worked... fill the tank and it says half... the car will run for another 300kms after the red light has come on! I have to use the tripmeter so i dont run out

Ive seen this on Ebay a few times... not exactly sure how it works... but will it fix my problem? is this the sender unit? or something that just fixes the drama?

Yes it's inside the tank. On the post 96/97 Jeep it's a pressure regulator/fuel filter/fuel pump/sender unit module all inside. Probably makes it really obscenely expensive.
You could check with Wooders first though. I have the same problem as you so emailed him. He does normally stock sender units but couldn't supply one when I contacted him. I don't know of any prices but, and never did end up getting one.

If you have a 94, 95 or 96, it is dead easy to replace so long as you tank is near empty. The whole sender/pump can be pulled straight out and is on the front of the tank above the diff. See my write up on getting more petrol into your tank where it shows some pictures.
Also there is adjustment on the stock sender so you might want to try that first.
On the later models though with the plastic tank you have to drop the whole tank to get to it as it comes through the top.
