West Oz has hosted one Jambo but have struggled to get viable numbers for financial success. Venue problems are also an issue for W.A. and they have sharks...LOL

I've been touting this for years. Lets go outback and have the South Oz mob do the preparation - (get the accolades) for something a bit different from the "tuff truk" or "widow maker hill" or "bog hole bastardy" with a more family orientated, cruiser, tourer, outback adventure?

Less competition and more laid back touring and camping accent.

Being of the older Jeep contingent, I don't want to have to compete on a big hill or similar. We can do the Jambo thing without risking vehicles or selves.

Over to you. First post in over two years........

Not a bad idea. An old skool style jambo would be fun. Get back to our grassroots. Not saying that I hate the big tough jeeps, I love them but something more traditional would be good. I know this was something sjc was aiming for this year.

I'm sure that one of the clubs is already throwing around some jambo ideas for 2014, that's why I asked the above question.

Does making a Jambo that dosn't really cater for the big Jeeps make it getting back to our roots? I dont think so, the idea of a Jambo is it caters for every Jeeper, it's just times have changed and the big jeeps are getting bigger.

As long as there are trips and events suitable for all then I dont really see why the Jambo formula needs to change? One of the reasons we chose the Blue Mountains is because it was a region with plent of sight seeing and longer day trips for the tourers as well as the tough stuff for the bigger Jeeps. Of course videos and photos that get posted wont reflect this split as everyone loves to see a big jeep working hard on a climb in a youtube clip.

As Wolfe says SJC would be very happy to pass on anything we can in the way of info and help to the next club to make sure there is another Jambo

Cheers
Steve

Welcome back OzJeeper. You've been missed! I suggested SA just because it isn't as far as WA (which struggled to get the numbers as OJ said) but could still provide us with a very different range of opportunities to the wet mountainous ones we've mostly had over the last decade. I don't know what opportunities the Flinders provides for the hardcore / big trucks but perhaps SA members could enlighten us.

A left field suggestion could be SA club running it in western Vic in the Little Desert / Wyperfeld / Big Desert / Border Track parks - these are closer to them than us.
