I know how to adjust the mixer flows, keep the ignition side tip top and timing.

I am also lucky to have a mechanic who is a LPG guru, so any real dramas and he normally has it running sweet after about 5 minutes - shits me at times, but that is something you only get from years of experience.

I helped a mate install a kit a few months ago, we used a company called megagas (in Adelaide) it cost around $200.Then needed to source a O2 sensor, got 2nd hand one from a falcon I think & a 5V power supply (USB power cig lighter adapter).Hardest part was fitting the throttle position sensor to his carby, we used a 2nd hand commodore TPS, which must turn the right way of course & be zeroed at idle.

turbo, what exactly was the kit you fitted? i am still waiting for a firm price from the 123 importer, but $500 is a touch on the high side for comfort. did your mate find something cheaper?

I think it's dropped a cylinder. How much would I be looking at roughly for a rebuild? anything to ask for?

Or do I just turf it and go holden supercharged v6/t700???

Dropped a cylinder? Are you sure it doesn't just need new plugs?

My '82 Cherokee regularly used to go worse than 30l/100km on petrol and I just put up with it as normal but with the following installed:

Edelbrock 1406 carb.
Edelbrock intake.
new plugs, new wires.
fixed the million little fuel leaks.
Installed a phenolic spacer to cut down on fuel vaporisation.
Fixed the auto kickdown mechanism.
Fixed the auto choke.

It's now doing about 20l/100km on the highway. don't underestimate the amount of fuel you waste when it's shut off and evaporating fuel in the car park and when the auto choke is in operation. The original 2 barrel carbs on these things are just woeful, the 1406 is a much nicer. I'd like to put LPG on it but that would mean losing the 2nd fuel tank and I'd rather throw the whole lot out and fit a big diesel instead if I was going to do that.

Why the delco? More programmable or easier to program? I don't think there is a heap wrong with the stock ford electronic ignition on the later FSJ - easy to get parts for and very durable.
