Default Kk atf cooler

It's been awhile since I've been on here. I'll be able to binge a bit on mod threads I hope.

Today I installed my auto tranny cooler and fan. I'm off to Dirk Hartog Island and as always I will be towing, hence getting the cooler in!

Photos should show 1 up on ramps with Uneek bash plate off. 2) the hot side tranny line with shinny nut in centre furthest from sight depth wise. Note the bottom cooler at front of vehicle is power steering cooler. 3) aux cooler mounting 4) finished installed...80watt fan is a beast in there. If we could upload videos it would be great to show.

Great write up mate, i have bought a new cooler and been dreading on how hard is it to install by myself. Did you add more oil once you were done.

Hey mate,

Yeah it didn't need a lot more, maybe 300ml to get it to recommended level. I did however compress the new braided lines with the bash plate, not enough room under there. I noticed this straight away so the transmission was not run with the lin es compressed.

So I removed the bash plate again and used a hole saw to cut some space out of the plastic board that the AC cooler bolts to. I then rechecked the level of ATF and it was now too much.

To fix that I pulled the new hot side tranny line off the new cooler and put it into a container. Then I turned on the ignition for a second or two and pumped out the excess till I was on the exact required level. Worked well.

Nice pics and write-up hopwrecked. Did you retain the transmission cooler line through the radiator or relying on the new cooler solely?

Well decided to change roof rail set up with solar panel . Worked well . I now have my 160watt solar panel under my roof rails freeing up the top side so i can use them when needed. Solar panels with nut serts 40 mm alloy angle and proper rhino rack u bolt holders did the trick
Once solar panels set up put back on the 2x2.5 awning, hilft jack and shovel holders, and still aloud room for my maxtrax without blocking solar panel.
This charges my arcpak 24/7 and runs my fridge 24/7. This is not hooked to charge car at all . Seperate system . I have the gear to plug into andersen plugs to charge car batt if needed.
Obviously if fully load up it will block direct sunlight but will have a gap so still will trickle charge, or pack roof so direct light still hits solar panel while traveling
