If yours is a Quadra Drive II make sure the correct amount of friction modifier is added to whatever oil you choose to use.
If there isn't enough modifier in the oil or nun at all you can get a hopping sensation from the diff's when you have the steering on full lock, i.e. when you do a U turn, to much may reduce the locking ability of the ELSD.

I am running Castrol SAF-XA (SAE 80W-140) it has the friction modifier already in it, preforms flawlessly off road

Pardon my ignorance but couldnt you just replace the seal. or is it just prudent to do the seal + associated parts as preventative maintenance?

If there is wear in the bushing the excess movement will allows oil past the seal, without compairing the old bush to a new one it is hard to see if it is worn or not so for $15 its worth replacing.
Saves doing it twice & I doubt you could remove the new seal without damaging it.

Minimum I would replace the "O" ring & seal.

Have you experienced the hopping due to not enough friction modifier yourself Clarky? I've always used a good LSD oil like you, so I haven't.

But I suspect there's some confusion in the reports between QDI and QDII.
QDII will definitely be affected a bit, but it shouldn't be as extreme as people suggest, since the clutch pack isn't engaged with much force until the solenoid closes the pressure relief valve.

People might think if they don't have any hopping, their oil must be fine... but I recon it'd still be possible to have inappropriate friction modifiers and not have any obvious symptoms under normal driving conditions - Then when QDII engages off-road, the clutch may suffer excess wear (or heat?), and hop until QDII disengages.

PS; I got the QDII solenoid indicator lights working, the pattern of engaged/disengaged is interesting. I'll put a video up if anyone's interested.
