Default Big end bearings on WK2 2015 Laredo diesel

Hi after recently getting my jeep fixed I am now left wit a loud ticking noise on the Facebook forum site I have listened to another jeep with the same issue.
I asked him what happened in the end he said it was the big end bearing.
Is this the case mine has only done 112,000k always serviced every 10,000k I see I can’t add a video so you can have a listen.
Sounds like in an old car of the eighties a noisy tappet or such I have never heard a big end bearing to compare this noise.
I am hoping it’s not this issue
My luck with jeeps seemed to have ran out with this car.
Any help would be great.

Fingers crossed however the engine does have injector noises similar to a big end and the higher the pitch the more you can relax as will be injection / tappet etc. A crank bearing end will get worse very quickly either by spitting out the shell or potentially slapping the piston to cylinder head and nothing you can do either. Just drive locally for a while perhaps. Mine has had that sound for over 20k and it always has me thinking.

Ticking or tapping your safe I reckon, big end is more of a low thump, well it was in one of my engines.
Grade of oil check and is it there all the time.

Seems worse when cold but it seems to still be there but not as bad as the engine warms up could it be just the wrong grade of oil as I only just changed my mechanic.
I will ask he seems to know his stuff found my faults the other bloke did not.

There have been various big end failure in these VM motors noted on various forums ,. FCA put out an urgent recall bulletin a few years ago to change oil viscosity from 5w30 to 40 due to to these failures. Some oil companies here still list 5w30 as correct ! Check in your past dealer invoiceswhat grade used, and your mechanic.! My view a d others is 10000 ks is far to long between oil changes I changed my sons oil in his JGC in weekend 10000 ks and like tar! I would contact FCA and state with a full service record you would expect a well serviced motor to last longer than those ks. Obviously if you find the dealer was putting in wrong grade it might be his problem.! You could get an oil sample analyzed which would give you some idea of problem etc

Mick...do you/can you change the oil yourself ???...if you can...simply dropping the oil and adding the 40w will tell you if its an oil grade issue..that may create an issue when you front FCA with a Warranty Claim if it is a Big End...unless....you dont say anything...

Big end knock is like a solid clunk , you'd know it as it is a death sign. Does it do it on the over run eg; on a closed throttle slowing down when the wheels are turning the engine or is it more pronounced under load (Throttle). If it's only just started and you're using a new mechanic I would be asking what weight oil was put in, for under $100 you could drop whats in there and shout it 5w-40 yourself, if the noise goes, you know what the cause was
