Default Rhino backbone system / bracket space between roof and bracket?

Is there supposed to be a slight gap / space between the bracket on the inner side and the roof itself? Rears sit flush but fronts don't? This is on a 2dr.

Anyone have photos so I can compare?

Cheers

On my 4 door the front (and middle) brackets had a gap, it was impossible to now have a gap due to the roof shape. Apparently different year models have slightly different roof shapes.... apparently anyway. Mine is an '07 and the installation manual stated it suits 07 onwards.

I sealed up the gaps with silastic.

As you can see, it just does not perfectly contour to the roof.

Mine is a 2dr and doesn't have that little rubber pad that yours does under the bracket. Is this a big deal? I didn't fit it personally- local shop did. I'm considering taking it back but just don't know if I should bother.

Is it implemental or is it just so it doesn't rub on the roof?

I don't know for certain, but I believe the rubber is there so some of the forces are transferred down to the roof otherwise all the force is just pivoting on the side where the bolts go through.

The rubber pads on mine didn't actually fill the gap so again I used some silicone to just close the gap.

The kit really could use some work by Rhino to make it better contour.

Do you have a pic?

I think the brackets were designed to fit the contour of the newer hard tops. I'm sure when the backbones system was launched it was originally for 2012+ models. They then added the rubber to make it fit better to the old ones........I think.
Having said that I'd guess there will be fair bit of tolerance in terms of the shape of the roof panels with them being fibreglass so I doubt you'd ever get a snug fit.
