Never checked, just know this thing that looks like a relay on steroids is for the glow plugs.......... P0670 to P0676 are glow plugs .. the glow plugs run on 7v not 12v so the bible says.

I think you may find that relay on steroids is full of electronics. No mechanical relay to be found. They use power transistors to switch the power on to each GP. It may even pulse 12v to get an average of 7v. Makes fault finding with a multimeter very hard.

Going on the rest of the vehicle I would assume not mechanical at all, the WSM does detail resistance checking for the plugs both in situ and on bench but if no codes being thrown to me it points to further down the chain than the actual units............

Just an update on the glow plug light issue. Had my car serviced at a Jeep dealership and asked about the glow plug light intermittently continuing to flash. A $90 diagnosis charge later, they tell me there is a fault code for the glow plug in cylinder 3 but they tested that glow plug and it seems fine. They also checked the wiring connections and they were fine.

After the service they said if I still get the glow plug light flashing it will require a more in depth diagnosis. However, I don't really trust the dealership's expertise. It will probably cost a lot for no real answers or replacing a lot of parts unnecessarily.

Any suggestions what could be the cause? It doesn't seem to affect the operation of engine.

MAP sensor may need a clean ............. maybe some injector cleaner put through the system, Moreys or Fuel Doctor could be just coked up a bit......... if all is running okay then Ostrich technique, ignore it ( It would drive me nuts actually) could always swap it for one of the other ones, if the fault changes spots then you know its the GP if it doesn't you know its a gremlin in the system..........

Once had a fault in a Ford, took a chance on it being the MAP sensor or something like that, went to a mates place as he had same model, once I had calmed him down and swapped the part mine ran good again and his played up, he was pale so I swapped it back and he had a smile then went to Repco for a new part and saved heaps of $$ compared to the genuine part which by the way came in the same plain box and label.

It will be a faulty glow plug. Car will still run and drive but whilst it has outstanding code it will not do dof burns.
Mine said it was glow plug 4, changed that but the fault remained, changed number 5 plug and fixed it.
They are not easy to remove and very easy to snap as i found out.
My advice, just change the faulty one- if you can get it out !!
