Default 4xGuard America!!

Hey guys,

Been looking on the net for ages at aftermarket accessories for my WH and 4xguard in AMerica seem to have heaps of good stuff at really cheap prices compared to here too!

Just wondering if any of you have bought from these guys and what your experiences have been with them?

Yep got their sliders on my WH. Good quality gear, Stu keep some in stock here too.

Lots of them in use on the WK/XK Team IFS facebook forum

The other mobs are Saguaro 4x Components and the Steel Armadillo - they all have cool gear for the WH/WK.

Dave

Hi mate, my WH has most of 4xguard's products on it; 'matrix' brush guard, side guards, and skid plates. That was all bought by the previous owner, but the quality and design of everything is excellent.
Designing very functional parts which look as nice as they do is a great achievement IMO.

Since buying the car, I've also bought the rear sliders, rear guard & diff guard, which are waiting to be installed.
I've exchanged a few e-mails with Marlin (the man behind 4xguard) and he's been helpful and friendly.
I had the parts delivered to a freight-forwarder in California, then delivered to Sydney using TNT.
They were packed _extremely_ well, I now have enough bubble-wrap for a few years worth of eBay sales LOL.

I have the LRA AUX fuel tank, which mounts from the same points that the rear guard is designed to mount.
So I'm drawing up some brackets to mount on the same side of the body-rail as the sliders, and extended to hold the guard in it's intended position.

After some very night-time trail fits, I think (but not certain) that if I mount the guard in the 'standard' position (which you see on their website, US photos, etc.) it'd hit the Mopar towbar... I'm wondering if we get different tow-bars in Aus which sit lower. But I wont know for sure until everything is bolted up and ready for alignment.

Oh, I've also found that the side guards are trapping single grains of sand in the seam where they but up against the body-work (along the door sills, etc). They were installed by an ARB... if I were to install them myself, I'd seal them against the body (and smooth out the seams) with mastic. If I ever need to remove them I'll do this before re-installing.

No worries.
Shipping from 4xguard in LA to my forwarder in CA for everything (rear guard, sliders & diff cover) was $53.
Then the rear guard from CA to Sydney using TNT Express was $164.
Sliders were $115.
I'm still waiting for the diff guard to arrive at the forwarder, but expect it to be around $60.

Thanks for the info mate!

Just been reading that the rear guard doesnt actually fit on the Aussie models with a tow bar? So hopefully you dont have a tow bar on yours but if you i'd be interested to hear how you tackle the problem!

G'day, the diff guard has just shipped from CA for $US76.
It's 3.6kg and packed about 57×30×18 cm.

You most-likely heard about the rear guard 2 tow bar issue from me haha... I hadn't read about any issues otherwise, I would've designed my own and had it made. Though it would be hard (for me) to reproduce the 'tuck' in the lip on the rear guard 2 without a lot of trial and error.
It also 'doesn't work' with the LRA AUX fuel tank (which I have), but that's only a matter of making different brackets to mount against the outside of the sub-frame.

I'll keep you posted on what I do anyway.
I plan to make the mounting brackets first, which will be sandwiched by the sliders and position the guard exactly as the standard brackets would.
Then I'll make a cardboard or coreflute version of the guard to mock up a cut the clear the tow bar.
