Default Eventful and painful Rock Crawling Day

With the Green TJ back together for a couple of weeks I decided it was time to go test it out so I tagged along with a bunch of Guys from Rockhampton’s Total 4x4 shop, there were 8 Vehicles, mainly patrols and cruisers on 35s, a Hilux on 33s and a Zook on 31s,

We traversed a gnarly creek gorge for a couple of hours, my co-driver and spotter Russel, was doing a great job of guiding me around the major obstacles when he decided to roll a rather large rock out of my driving line, in a momentary loss of concentration he looked away from what he was doing to get his finger caught between two rocks, he jumped up screaming, blood everywhere, meat and bone exposed. Ick……. Basically a degloving injury.

We got it bandaged, gave him some heavy painkillers and tried to get him out and off to Hospital where I bent my tierod (RE Cromolly Job) and suffered a flat tyre.

The Docs tried to save what was left but looks like its too smashed and will need to be amputated.

So everyone please be careful when next out on the trail.

Best wishes to your friend mate. you can replace your tie-rod free of charge as they have lifetime warranty but your friend can't replace his finger (not that i believe it was your fault in any way)

Don't go blaming yourself for it though....nothing you could have done. It's just one of those things in life i guess.

Yeah everyone needs to be careful, in a event of stupidity when I was out last was wearing my Qld WorkBoots (ie thongs) and slipped and wedged mt big tow between two rocks, needless to say I no longer have a tow nail on that foot.

Upshot, wear covered footwear and prob wouldnt hurt to wear some gloves too!!

Don't think they are Kris, I had this choice when deciding between a RE one and a TBT one (which has the warranty).

Rocky, hope your friend makes a fast recovery.
