Default J10 engine swap

Thinking about replacing the present drive train in a J10 with 4.0L engine, auto box & TC from a xj, anyone have any thoughts on this. say for example is it up to the job in the way of being strong enough or any major concerns to consider. Presently running the original box & TC with a 350 chev. I have a new chassis to put under it due to the one in it being bent, any suggestions on work to do to it to fit the above before I install it. Thanks Darren

if it was my J10, I'd keep the small block chev & replace the gearbox with a T700 auto adapted to your transfer case. fuel economy would be terrible with the 4L in a J10...it's bad enough in a lightweight XJ

Thanks mate, Ive got 3 spare xj'sdoing nothing & tossing up if this would be a OK conversion, also got a T700 box thrown in the deal when I bought the J10, been engineered for the chev in Qld but needs redoing for NSW. Blue slipper said he would pass it with 6cyl xj engine.

in nsw no reason he wont pass a 350 either, there is a formula on the rta site but with a full chassis vehicle you can increase the capacity by a fair bit given you start at 4.2L a 5.7L is nothing

Blue slipper said that the size of the 350 is OK but it is not a jeep engine that he is concerned about,
