+1 on the Hankooks generally and for their low road noise and wet weather grip characteristics in particular. I changed them out at 70,000kms due, in part, to some uneven wear caused by an unnoticed wheel alignment issue (yes, my fault for not checking more frequently).

I then went with a set of (much more expensive) LT-rated Bridgestone D697 due to a wish for greater puncture protection for some outback touring. The 697s were as noisy new as the Hankooks at the end of life, but similar grip. Sadly, I can't report on their longevity as the GC was stolen when those tyres were only at 35,000kms, obviously with plenty of tread left.

My replacement GC, a 2013 Trailhawk, still has it's original, 6 year old, Canadian-made Goodyear Wranglers at 82,000kms but not much left on them so will be replaced soon (maybe Hankooks again?). The TH understeers more but that could be as much to do with having the added weight of a bull bar as the lack of tread on the tyres.

all good, takes alot to offend me

i'm only going on my experience and what other's here are saying

the fact you have 60 years of changing tyres means that you should be more accepting of the fact that technology changes and 100K out of a set if looked after properly shouldn't be unrealistic . You've seen tyres go from wooden tyres all the way through to modern tyres

The only noticeable change in grip was last winter in WA . The tail did get a little happy and i had the odd slight lockup under heavy breaking but i managed to get through winter and once dry had no issues . If i was ******** i would prob have changed them at 80-90K but i wanted to see if i could get 100K out of them and i did . The week before i changed them i was doing muddy forest hillclimbs and still managed to do them .

Default Firestone Destination M/T2

They Dynapro AT-M is a nice looking tyre.

Has anyone tried putting on Firestone Destination M/T2 tyres? The Bridgestone Dealer network does not appear to be having this tyre advertised anywhere, possibly because they do not want to cannibalise sales of their own line of 4WD tyres (even though they are the same company now).

The Firestone Destination M/T2 looks like a great mud tyre. If anyone wanted one of these, they would probably need to import.

As for me, I have been using the Mud Terrain for quite some time now and it seems amazing to me. Approximately, it has covered up to 5000 km and it is still looking sharp. The terrain you drive on also has a huge impact on your tyres.

Has anyone tried the new Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus. I bought a set of pirelli ATs around the mid 2000s on the old tread style (which I thought looked great) and went back to Goodyear when they were no longer available. I found the original Pirelli AT durable and the tread was grippy in the wet conditions and offered reasonable performance off road.

I've just put a set of Scorpion AT+ on our TH but this post might be too late for you - sorry! - I'll have to change my settings to notify of any posts in these forums!!.

The Pirellis are replacing 2 1/2 year old / 42500km Hankook Dynapro AT-m's and in short so far I LOVE THEM!!.

The AT-m's have been replaced with prolly 40-50% of tread left on them. That suggests they were in line to manage around 80000 by the time they got down to the tags. I have excessive negative camber on driver side which Im going to fix when new Bilsteins go in at the end of August - else that could easily be more like 10000+

The reason I've replaced the AT-m's at this stage with so much wear left on them is because from about 18 months old their wet weather grip really noticeably fell off. They were fine in the dry and overall felt great etc. but in the wet the steering got VERY light and we had issues with cornering grip. They seemed to pull up ok in a straight line even in the wet but cornering and roundabouts had to be slowed down a LOT.

The reason I got the Pirellis was reviews - particularly tyrereview.com.au.

We've only had them on for a couple of weeks but I'm on holiday - so we've clocked up a couple thousand k's - mostly bitumen but prolly a couple hundred k's on gravel (including corrugations), some greasy but hard based mud, and some hard based sandy stuff - both dry and wet.

They're a LOT quieter than the AT-m's ever were - in fact onroad they're pretty much silent. They're less sharp/direct in response than the AT'm's but not in any way that's bothersome. Even at same pressure of 38psi they bag much more than the AT-m's (I grabbed my checking gauge expecting to find them at about 32 but they were definitely at 38psi ). Ride onroad and offroad is lovely and soft - on corrugations they're amazing - and that's at 38psi!!! - ie. I have expected each time we've gone offroad to have to let them back to something like 34 for comfort but they've been fine at 38. In the wet the steering feels no different to the dry - ie. they don't get light - which indicates they're still gripping fine. Altho as I said, they feel less sharp and direct than the AT-m's they feel REALLY nice and solid - a lot of our tripping since fitting them has been on wet road and theyve been awesome Keeping in mind tho that the AT-m's also felt fine for the first 18 months tho, I guess we can only wait and see. I also have concerns how tyres that feel so sticky are going to wear in the long run...
