My plan is to use the Radiator cooler as I think the US type radiator will do a better job than the Oz spec ones. I was going to use the B&M type and have it mounted under the body with a thermal switch as a backup..

Nakkas, If you mount the cooler under the floor wont it get covered in crap?

Spal is just a good quality brand name in car electronics and they make a wide variety of fans including small engine applications like motorcycles etc which work well for tranny coolers. the three 6" fans i bought were about $175 aud shipped off ebay usa. also, i couldnt find better bang for the buck from other mfgs as my setup requires a specific size fan to fit into the tight mounting space. i looked at davies craig, permacool, b&m, flex a lite and quite a few others as well but the spals are abundant in size and performance (and generally cheaper).

I think I know where itchy is coming from, especially if it is mounted horizontally, it will just gather everything on top of it.

Nakkas, where abouts underneath were you thinking? It could possibly be mounted out the back, in a vertical position, but it would cop a hiding I would expect.

I worry about my trans, especially when towing, even just my little 6x4 heats it up over 100*C. I only have a alloy finned cooler at the mo, which is useless at slow speeds and has no way of forced cooling. I spose I could spray it with water but then you have yet another thing to check.

cheers

What is the oil flow through the cooler lines. I don't think it's much because mine popped a hose and travelled 1 1/2 klm and still had oil.
