I currently have a 3.5inch lift and 315 (35") tyres and can confirm that I will JUST fit into a car park that has a hieght bar of 2090 and I do mean just as the tip of the aerial does ping as I go through

A worthy consideration when thinking of lifting IMO
What lift are you running?? Is it really 3.5? When i had my Arb lift on 37's I would fit in the carpark at 215 Spring which is 2.0 metres. Also, if your running a hardtop, your clearance is better.

Hi, Its the AEV Premium Kit. I have a hardtop now but either way the aerial tip was still about 1" higher than the softtop

I had a look at the Victorian RWC legislation today. It states that the tyres CANNOT be more than 15mm in diameter larger than the tyres that the tyre size that the manufacturer stipulated for that vehicle. If the tyres are more than 15mm larger, the car is deemed unroadworthy.

If you read the fine print in every insurance policy, it states that the car must be kept in a roadworthy state at all times.

The above means that putting 33 inch tyres on your JK deems the car unroadworthy and subsequently voids your insurance in the event of an accident. (let alone 35's)

I wonder how this goes in a crash though? I was watching some of those crash investigations on tv, where some guy (he had his suspension lowered, bigger motor, big rims and insanley wide tyres) lost control and hit someother car.

The police went through his car to see what could have caused him to lose control. They identified all these parts and said although they are illegal, they weren't the cause of the crash. They even went to say that most of these performance parts would've help keep control.

So back to where i was getting at...I wonder if they would have to prove that the bigger tyres or other modification were what caused you to crash?

Anyone know of any engineers in perth?

The bloke I spoke to today in Frankston (at a 4wd shop, went on to say that the state and federal govts are looking at standardising the Roadworthy conditions accross the country.

He also said that they are going to get tough on lifted 4wd's as it is the cause of many rollovers and also lifting a 4wd affects the braking due to the change in the CofG.

He also said that if I give my car a 4 inch lift, it has to be a 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift, otherwise it also become unroadworthy.
