The overheating problem is pretty well restricted to the auto. But it seems to be the air con. that puts it over the edge. I just turn the air off during hard work periods, not ideal when it's 40 plus outside but stops it happening. As an off road tow vehicle it's hard to beat.
The eagle isn't for hard core off road so I would think the GC makes a far better option for where the camper can go.
If you want the wrangler just because it's a wrangler then you will live with it's quirks, shake your head at times but still love her because of what she's able to do.
If they ever put the V6 in the wrangler we will be trading up then. They will probably dial out a bit of the power to save the drive train.
