WK2 diesel blowback

I have a big problem with diesel blowback, when filling up the diesel spurts out when full. Now this wouldn’t generally bother me except I have done nearly 6000km and I’m yet to fill the tank without this happening.

Try as I may to judge near full and back it off a bit but always get probably half a cup of diesel splashing out on the ground. I’ve learnt to stand to one side to avoid it getting on my clothes.

Cashier will often ask if I’m the one who spilt fuel because I think many servos have sensors near the drain and it triggers an alarm. Anyway does anyone else have this problem?

I’m wondering if I have a faulty breather hose or something, anyone have detailed info on how this works?

Interesting, mine takes it full bore. No problems at all, but I do only fill to the first auto shut off.

Mine also takes it full on but I stop at the first shut off. Early on I tried to give it a bit more and it spat a little back, so I stopped that practice.

First click then stop and don't put any more in.

If you are already doing this, then yeah it's not normal.

I never try to top up after the first click but by that stage I’ve already dived out of way of the torrent of diesel that comes flying out. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it’s never taken a full load without spurting out...

I will ask the service guys when I take it in for the towbar repair kit in a couple of weeks.

P.s I’m curious to hear from any new my17 Trailhawk owners if they have the same problem.

Not a Trailhawk, but a 2018 Limited - no issues with filling up either.
