Looks like SA is pretty quiet on the 4x4 front

It's a really pity there is nowhere near town here. Used to love just disappearing off into the hill out the back of Perth when we lived there. Sadly nothing like that over here.

If anyone is interested in day trips etc hit me up as I work in the mines and can probably get away for a few days at a time. Might even bring the wife and kids!! (if they promise not to wind me up that is! )

I am originally from SA, deep south, down Normanville. I found it hard to find spots near Adelaide to get away for a short trip. Best thing I found was to join a club. I started to go to the Southern Explorers 4WD club but ended up back in Tas before I could go on any trips. I have done Benelby Ranges up north. Fantasic scenery but not challenging enough for my XJ. I didn't even get a chance to use the winch.

Regards A

Down South Sa here too...

Finally get my XJ tonight and do a little maintainence over the W/E
Planning a day trip with a mate to Saunders Gorge in a few weeks to pop my 4x4 cherry!

Then I'll be looking for whatever scene there is... Plenty of beach driving nearby (not real wheeling I know!) and I'm told of some good fire tracks etc...
Keen to discover whatever local terrain there is.

Anyone keen for a day trip in Aug?

Let me know of these fire tracks you can find. I can't find anything remotely challenging to the XJ near adelaide.

Saunder Gorge is nice to a peacfull day out and picnic with the family but there is only 2-3 spots that give any challenge at all in a stock XJ with really saggy springs. Now I have the OME and 30' tyres it would be a cake walk but fun none the less.

I'd like to know where some fire tracks are too please!
I'm trying to find any tacks to do within an hours drive from Adelaide. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is anything still open in Kuitpo Forest? I used to get down that way on my Bultaco m/c 40 years ago. My understanding is much of the good spots have been locked up by SA water. Near the power station behind Cherry Gardens was great as well but its no go. There was a quarry up near there as well.
