Well done for regularly crawling the grand. I'd love to give some serious terrain a go one day with it. I just fear hand bag related injuries originating from the passengers seat. My old work truck doesn't usually suffer from those same issues so it continues to be assigned to real tracks. But damn I'd love to try some of the jeeps trickery on some more serious terrain.

Yeah, the knocking is completely fixable with the spacers, as I tf stops you from topping out on the struts (Hence my want to do it)..

I took it out on some pretty hairy tracks last weekend, got it pretty stuck due to my limited clearance (mind you, my brother got stuck in the same spot with 5" of additional lift from his D4 air suspension), and we did some fairly gnarly crawling up at Mt Cole, QD2 is unstoppable... my brand spanking new rockrails took a hiding (and now need repainting), but all in all, it performed 100% better than you would expect from such a tame looking vehicle (my previous 6 vehicles have been JK's with 3.5" lifts and 35's, so despite popping wheels off the ground left right and center, I was truly impressed)

That's testing her out.

I'd have to learn how to evade a flying handbag if I attempted that one.

But more seriously QD2 impressed the crap out of me on the few trails I've run with the grand.

Ye, I was blown away, my last 6 (or 7, I've lost count) vehicles have all been heavily modded wranglers and articulation/ wheel travel aside, the are very comparable

Use pliers, multigrips to undo plastic plug in transmission dipstick tube. Push down, turn anticlockwise

Had the trans serviced today, good price of 275 bucks by a reputable mob here in Adelaide. Old mate did mention is looks like it has some hard driving, fluid was black and the filter quite clogged. He said offroad work and sand driving will do that, so seeing as I go away 4x4ing with a local Jeep mob every few weeks it's good practise to do flush and filter every 20k or so.

I also did the rear diff fluid this arvo (front tomorrow and engine again) and while poking around under there I noticed that the stock breather isn't worth a squirt of goats piss, it's only few cm long. I will check out the front one tomorrow if I can get my big head around the tight space. I can't find the trans or transfer case breathers. Would be good to extend them for sure, as I can see only a minor puddle will suck some water into the mongrel.

I reckon the stock WJ breathers were better than that, what was Jeep thinking?

My 8 speeder breather is up the back of the engine, on all my old 4x4 I always ran breathers from diffs, gearbox into the engine bay with old fuel line usually and stuck an old petrol fuel filter on the end as a filter, hose was the right size for whatever fitting was on the diff, over nearly 50 yrs now never a failure, worked on the premiss if water got into the diff I was in big trouble as the sump would be full as well...........nice price for the service, 5 speeder I take then, I found 45K was a good time frame on mine, if it only has had scheduled service then after the first full change and flush, just a dump and run job is good enough over half the oil is dropped, new filter and shouldn't give any problems, when I dropped my 5 speeder around the 120K mark it was pristine inside, flushing is not recommended for the 8 speeders.
