Default iPod RoadTrip

Hey all,
In my Jeep I use my Ipod for all my music instead of Cd's. Anyways I used to use an attachment called the iTrip (its a FM transmitter that runs off the ipods power and transmit's to a chosen FM station). This was ok but the convineniance outweighed the quality of the tunes... there was nearly ALWAYS a buzzing sound.

Anyway, yesterday my mate wanted to swap his RoadTrip (Which charges the ipod and transmit's tunes via FM - Plugs into ciggy lighter - It also fits ANY ipod with a dock) for my iTrip cause the bulkyness got in the way of his oh so flash Maloo interior

iTrip costs 80.00 odd and the roadtrip costs 150.00

With the premium sound system the roadtrip sounds mint . Crystal Clear, no buzzing at all, plus it charges up the ipod (the itrip sucks power like crazy). for the extra cash its def worth it

It's a little bulky but in the TJ it doesnt get in the way of the gear changes (like it thankfully does in a maloo )

I had one of those itrip thingos too.. which is why I ended up buying the alpine ccd changer with the ipod adapter lead..full access to the ipod via the head unit etc.. pity I choked it full of dust.. bloody soft top jeeps..
am thinking about putting it back in now its repaired though as I dont want the jvc touchscreen to **** itself either..
ipods rock.. although there are other types of music storage devices available.why card 200cd when you can card 1x 20 gig ipod.

cd's and corrugations don't mix the Road Trip transmitter also pops put of the carrier and you can plug it into your pc or laptop to broadcast music aswell.

Ive got the road trip transmitter its the Belkin one. When I first bought it it didnt buzz, but now after i have had it about a year it buzzes like hell. When the song is playing you can hear it in quiet parts, and between songs it drives you mad!

Also it seems to mess with my ipod, sometimes it will freeze my ipod. It only happens when its plugged into the road trip.

I bought a Cygnett branded thing for about $70 a few weeks ago. It plugs into cig. lighter and charges, as well as FM broadcast.

No buzz that I can hear, although I did have to change the output channel on a recent trip from the Far North Coast of NSW to Melbourne a couple of times due to local broadcasts interfering.

I am the same as 4x4BotS. It has a few presets that I programmed. One for the city, suburbia and country,. The buzz is more from the tuning I reckon not so much the unit itself.

There's a mod for the iTrip, crack the case open and coil solid copper wire (1mm) around the existing antenna tightly, increases range heaps and eliminates the buzz. Plus you should not run the iPod at full throttle through the iTrip (gets slight distortion) back it off to 3/4 volume and use the cars volume or whatever means you are playing it through.
I've now gone to the alpine deck, well worth it depending on years i get out of it course..
