Default 31s and trimming

Put some 245/75/16s on the XJ, they are on Cragar soft 8s with 4" backspacing and I was checking out the fit under flex/compression yesterday (best I could).

The front seems okay, but the rear looks as though it will touch on the inner guard in the area indicated (the plastic bump behind the flare).

Any tips from the gurus on how to trim/modify this area?

Should I lower my front and rear bump stops to accomodate these tyres, and if so by how much?

it must be the angle the photo was taken from, but that rear wheel looks like its too far back.
even with the lift on mine and before the rear wheel was always centered.

besides that,

As for the bit in the red square, mine is pushed back flush with the tyre-well. I just ran outside and had a look at mine, that plastic bit on mine can not bee seen when looking at it from straight on.

get a shot looking straight on .

could be your mud flap brace too.

Tiiiiim, mine is a 95 model limited, what model is yours? I agree, looks like the wheel isn't centred and with the naked eye it looks the same to me (although exaggerated by this pic).

I'll get some more photos of it. The surface is flush when you look straight on, but by my assessment of wheel travel it appears that the tyre will touch the inner section of the flare i.e. there is a bump on the inside of the wheel arch which is the rear (inner?) piece of the flare moulding. I'm wondering if I can just remove that inner section, or other options on how to approach this.
