Default After market air filter for WH 06 CRD

Hi guys sorry have looked and looked but can't seem to fill anyone on here that has replaced standard air filter in air box for something with more flow/better filtration I have found threads that lead me to amazon for the AFE filters that sound good. I'm chasing a dry filter not the likes of K&N oil filters just not sure weather the air box is the same dimmentions in the CRD and it only lists the petrol models on the website.

Can everyone that has a 3.0ltr CRD point me in the right direction.

Cheers Chingy

Have you looked at Sydney Filters, they tell me theirs are all German filters and quoted air filters to me @ $17.60.
I have only used their oil and provent filters to date.

Personally I wouldn't bother, especially if you are going to buy something like a K&N Filter. There is a load of testing on the Intermaweb that shows they do not improve performance, I've also seen testing that demonstrated they also do not filter as well.

Same goes for cold air induction systems, usually reduce HP.

X2,
Way too much camp fire BS that diesels with turbos need free flowing air filters. As long as the filter is clean the air flow will be all thats needed. If it blocks, the turbo is more than strong enough to collapse the element.
You never see earth moving equipment with K&N filters. Donaldson has been the standard for decades.

FWIW, I've actually measured across my filter as per my link and saw bugger all insertion loss across a standard filter element so i can't see the reason to change.

You can draw your own conclusions but here is some dyno testing that may save you some dollars:

Cold air induction kits:

Haven't seen this one on Pod Filters:

Default re air filters

I have a K&N replacement panel filter in the original air box done 75,000 k,s already with it paid for itself with just cleaning and oiling it instead of buying a new one each time

They say they just use standard filters well proof is in the pudding

I was changing my oil at 15,000 intervals and cleaning the K&N panel believe me its dirty at that odometer reading just clean it re oil it ready to go

I don't go off road or beach but I have driven it up and down the east coast of Australia in all types of weather and temperatures

This is the second time I have had a K&N panel filter in a diesel vehicle
I cant say its faster or more powerful as I have a GDE tune and 3 inch catback exhaust

I did get from Avenel Caltex 180 out of Melbourne to Caltex F3 Wyong on one tank of fuel and from there to the gold coast filled the fuel till the top of the neck each time

You have seriously caught yourself out !!
Its less than 130 km from Melbourne to Avenel. I drive that section of the Hume every few weeks.
I guess we should apply a similar factor to other claims in this & other posts.
If your K&N filters are so good, the engine manufactures would be happy to see people fit them.
My own experience includes having a tech rep for K&N filters show up when I had a rep from CAT at home. The K&N guy basically forgot how to speak English when he worked out who he was talking to. I have about a dozen diesels in various applications & given what I have been made aware of, I would not go near a K&N. I am also aware of 2 large transport operators, both with more than 30 prime movers that also would not go near K&N.
An oil moist filter element will become very dirty looking very quick with soot. Its the abrasive particles that dont show as black gunk on the filter that cause problems. Your oil change interval probably has more to do with the type of driving you do, not the air filter you use.
If the major diesel engine manufacturers dont like K&N filters, why would anyone seriously consider using them?
Much of your sprooking for K&N sounds a bit like piglet on a certain brand of accessories.
